Created in Dec. 2012 and originally posted on Spartan Bloks, this was my very first Halo themed MOC and the first custom building block creation for me in 30+ years. So if it doesn't seem quite as slick as my more recent work, its 'cuz after 30 years away, your building block skills get a little rusty- LOL!
This MOC is actually canonically correct. While the vehicle was never pictured and only briefly referenced in the Halo Contact novel and by Cortana in Halo CE, the SKT-13 Shuttlecraft did exist in the Halo Universe. The SKT-13 was presumed to be a somewhat larger version of the Bumblebee lifeboat equipped with engines and an airframe capable of ground-to-orbit and orbit-to-ground operations. To that end I created a longer Bumblebee-esque hull design with a rear entry hatch like that of the Bumblebee Lifeboat in Halo CE. Then I strapped on the side mounted engines with swiveling exhaust nozzles to allow for VTOL operation.
Things that make you go hmmm... What does it say about UNSC Naval culture when only the officer class has access to a lifeboat that can land without crashing?!?!?
And before anyone here chirps up, yes I was using a few L*go parts even in my very first MB Halo custom build. The cockpit canopy, silver floor tiles with jumper stud in the passenger bay, and rear rudders were all sourced from the L*go catalog.
