Build created and originally publicly published on the SBF in January 2015.
I'm not going to make any claims about game accuracy here, but I am going to state that much of this rebuild was due to the simple application of common sense. While the idea of a civilian law enforcement Hornet variant seemed reasonable, arming it identically to the military model made no sense at all. While in the extreme, a SWAT team may be equipped with a heavily armored vehicle, It isn't equipped with a 100mm cannon, missile launchers, or even 50 cal machine gun turrets is it?
In the same fashion as all my other Hornet rebuilds, I lengthened both the tail boom and landing skid "pontoons" by two studs. This nicely addresses the much too stubby looking rear end of the stock models. While at it I cleaned up the nose leaving only smooth sensor bubbles and a swiveling searchlight. I tidied up the wing tops after removing the cannons. Finally I added fast-rope stanchions beneath the tail boom making use of the rope gear provided in the recent MB COD Rappel Fighter set. Now SWAT troopers can rope onto uneven rooftops that prove otherwise unsuitable for a Hornet to land on.
Hope you enjoyed this simple little rebuild. As always constructive criticism, compliments, or clones of my efforts are all good.
Happy Trails!
