Ight, I'll do mine then.
Lietni was awoken abruptly from a short slumber that was due to boredom by a smartly dressed Lieutenant.
"ATTENTION!"
He jumped up and saluted, almost toppling his shield.
"You are to report to the Emperor's hall as quickly as you can, take your equipment and dress for the weather."
"Weather? What weather?"
But the Lieutenant was already on his way to wake up another Imperial Legionnaire.
It dawned on him. The only weather around here was the constant blizzard outside of the mountains. It was cold and damp inside, but outside...
He shivered at the thought and immediately ran to the armoury to get on his exterior uniform then he almost ran to the Emperor's hall.
Waiting for him was his commander and they entered together.
Of course, Martuna stood out like a Tharigok in a herd of Phairyliari, with her pale skin against the menacing shadows cast by the torches.
Next was a group of officials, dressed in various colours and wearing various symbols that he read as such; Haphygon, Amaiorika, Corsfonisqua, Frilasgori, and, Jugfulissa, the five other cities of the empire, each belonging to a clan.
If they had come, it was important.
Finally, he noticed the emperor, still on his throne, discussing various matters with the officials.
The latter turned to face them upon their arrival.
"See here before you, Thunramarakin, the Earterri I speak of. Is he not built like a warrior would be built? Does he not seem like a courageous fellow? He is not scared of speaking his mind, nor do I believe he fears the exterior at all."
"Yet, your highness, he is but a footsoldier, a guard."
"Nay, he's a new one to the art if swords, you can tell from his posture!"
"Aye, we should send one of Amaiorika, we defend the borders against the Revgenare all the time!"
"QUIET. Would you dare question my eyes? They have yet to fail me and I believe he is fit for this task!"
The officials cowered under the booming voice of the Emperor.
"What say you, daughter of the southern forests?"
With a sparkle in her eyes, Martuna replied, "I see a hunter, a warrior in him. I am sure he's more than capable of escorting me through the lands of the Hombsapsiensis..."
Lietni gulped.
He had heard stories from his elders of how brutal the race of men were. How they enslaved and killed amongst each other.
How violent they could become over trivial matters.
He did not object though.
Within the hour she was dressed fro head to toe in various layers of pelts, whilst Lietni had but a simple long-sleeved tunic and some mittens under his armour.
He carried a spear, a sword and a shield as well as a bag full of supplies whilst she hauled a Bow and some arrows in addition to her travelling bag.
They stepped through the last gate and into the infinite white of the eternal snow.
Something in him became free.
