Right, its going to depend on how much content is coming in. Let's say there hasn't been many new posts for a few hours.
Sometimes on the weekends there aren't so the pages have time to catch up to each other. You are less likely to see a discrepancy in that case.
However, when there are many new posts the pages will seem constantly out of sync.
If you just focus on one gallery project you will see in about an our it appears everywhere. You can think of it like, each batch of projects that have been moderated need an hour to propagate throughout the website.
Before the edit feature was released the page refresh times seemed much longer, which may have helped with keeping everything in sync.
Something else I noticed, that may explain why you get different results with the type=photo filter.
It seems as though when projects are uploaded they are tagged photo or video which allows us to filter.
I've noticed that some projects don't have videos but are tagged as such. I believe that means the video was rejected and all thats left is the photo. So if you filter by photos, it's possible that you would be missing some projects because they are actually tagged as video, even though they don't have a video.
This can be verified by filtering by video, you can find projects in that filter that have no video.
