Paint pens

I completed my first custom... hurrah.
OK, all I really did was paint the head of Thor's hammer using an oil-based silver paint pen but it's a start.
It seems to have worked really well. Nice even coverage and dried very quickly.
I didn't realise you could get non-metallic versions of these pens.
Who else has tried these pens and what drawbacks have you found?

I would personally try to use more brushed on paints, myself. They just tend to allow for more fun techniques, and are better for really small details.

I got myself some (admittedly cheap) oil-based coloured pens.
The silver and gold work fine. Applying a dark colour on a light plastic is 'ok' BUT they rubbish applying onto darker plastic.
A second coat doesn't help either.
So, partial success but I am sure acrylics will be better.
