Although I might seem a bit obsessive, Warhammer 40k sets are a great option if you want to kitbash.
They come with TONS of extra grenades, terrain, weapons, scrolls, knives, binoculars, couples, and more. I have used Warhammer for every single kitbash that I have made.
Also, for those of you who have seen my custom mercenary, his backpack was made from spare parts (just a random fact)
