So I actually rebuilt this Halo Wars era Elephant 5 years ago. If you are an OG Mega Bloks Halo fan and were a regular over at Spartan Bl0ks prior to its hacking and ultimate demise last year, you may have already seen this along with its companion trailer and SoF Slipspace Engine builds. The entire build enjoyed a fair amount of notoriety when it was first unveiled, Mega even shared it on their fb page that Christmas. Anyway the internet record of this build along with much of my other earlier custom MB Halo efforts were lost with Spartan Bl0ks. For those of you that are seeing it for the first time, enjoy! I've included a couple of Mega's stock set pics from the MCX Halo sets portal for comparative purposes. If its not immediately obvious to you, the official stock MCX pics are the perfectly focused, perfectly clear ones- LOL! This really was a great stock set, one of my all time favorites. But when it comes to brick models I'm pretty obsessive and there were still ample opportunities for game-accuracy improvements.
I decided to rebuild the model so as to represent the basic version of the in-game Elephant prior to any of the in-game upgrades being purchased. Then I would make the upgrades in modular form so that they could be added to the base model in stages just as they are in-game. Those upgrades are pictured in a companion gallery post a few posts subsequent to this one if you are curious... The rebuild was very thorough and raised the set count substantially. If you are contemplating cloning my work, you'd better have a substantial quantity of camo green spare parts squirreled away- LOL! While it is not super obvious in the picks, my Elephant has grown in all dimensions but particularly in the front of the troop bay. I slavishly pored over tiny grainy zoomed-in game play screengrabs and Ensemble Studios concept art in order to replicate as much of the in-game vehicle's details as possible in blocks. If you are already a follower of my work you won't be surprised to see an almost complete lack of exposed studs. IMHO, if you wanna create an authentic looking build, eliminating all the exposed studs where you won't be posing figures is a great start!
