Now that the (Battle) Cat is out of the bag, so to speak (sorry…), here is quick peek behind the scenes into the design of the Battle Cat building set. (We used our prototype working model for this photo shoot which explains the funky colors.)
With the success of ‘’off scale’’ building sets like the Halo Energy Sword, it was time to introduce a larger scale collector set in the Masters of the Universe line and Battle Cat is a great character to start with. The goal was to create a fun building set that could be added to a Masters display.
Before we started building, the Design team set several criteria that we felt would make the best collectible. First, we wanted this ‘’statue’’ to be articulated so that it could be posed and displayed differently. Next, we wanted to give it a modern and sophisticated look and feel, so advanced building techniques were used to minimize the number of visible posts on the surface. To make it as authentic as possible, several printed parts are used for the eyes and the tiger stripes. Lastly, Battle Cat is scaled to fit a Masters of the Universe Origins figure with opens up more display options for fans.
