This simple mod was inspired by the first custom build I did, many years ago. After being mesmerized by the walkers in TESB, I was crushed that the AT-AT model I got only had 2 fully-functioning legs. I tried cutting the other legs apart and fashioning “knees” from spare parts, but it didn’t work too well. Then I realized if I used the legs from another set, I would have one “whole” walker and a stiff. The stiff was turned into a downed walker diorama, which sadly no longer exists, but I still have the 4-Knee AT-AT to this day.
That’s why when I saw that the AC horses were similarly limited, I suspected that there was a similarly simple way to fix them. I picked up two clearance sets and after some quick limb swapping I had a pair of fully-jointed mounts along with a set of beefy bookends. There is a slight difference in size between the front and rear legs, but it is hardly noticeable. A small amount of sanding will help the rear legs fit better as forelegs on the “stiffs”, but the “4-Knees” need no additional modding…Giddy Up!
