This week we're looking at the second generation wraith from 2012, suitably named Covenant Wraith 97014. It comes with 3 1/2 figures, four weapons, a forerunner structure, and of course the wraith itself. Figures include two gold elites, one in the basic combat harness and one with a commando helmet. The spartan can be either an EOD or Scout. The colors of the figures are great and the gold especially stands out. The spartan's armor swap gimmick is interesting but I feel it would be better in its own stand alone pack. I would have much preferred it if they had just included the six extra pieces to make a full figure. For weapons you get one plasma launcher, one focus rifle, one rocket launcher, and one target locator. The wraith accommodates two figures, one pilot and one gunner. Unfortunately super articulated elites are too big to allow the cockpit hatch to close though other figures are fine. There are two sliding panels on top of the wraith that open to reveal the plasma mortar which then raises up although there's nothing keeping it in this position so it might tip back depending on how tight the clips are. The forerunner structure is a nice piece of scenery but that's about all I can say about it. The last picture shows both the EOD and Scout spartan side by side since I have two of this set. Curiously, the image of this set on the site seems to show an earlier rendition of it as there are small differences between it and the final version, notably a grey turret, a needler, and an old style fuel rod gun. I kind of wish we got those weapons instead. In conclusion, a good massable vehicle, great figures with a small annoyance, serviceable weapons and cool scenery. I recommend it if you can find it for a good price (funny joke, I know).
