Seeing as how the post with the green one has been deleted I'm including it here.
A buddy of mine bought me this pack and challenged me to do a Stacker/ODST style repaint of them. That means no major repaint but lots of small details missing on the originals.
I broke that challenge in a couple of spots. First, the purple helmets definitely look better having had major reworks and gold visors. The commando especially was rather lacking in paint, being solid purple with a blue visor that wasn't even fully applied on my figure. Secondly, the Scout chest plate has had the shoulder netting changed from dark gray to the light gray used by the arms.
Everything else is just minor details from reach like the stripes on the security, grenadier, and commando shoulders. Im especially happy with the yellow stripes on the sapper chest plate. I didn't do the caution stripes (What? Schlub didn't do caution stripes?!) on the boots because I didn't really want to mess with the boots at all and if I did the stripes I'd have to paint the rest of the boots too.
Now for the Schlupdate. This was in the previous post with the green Spartan, but that has been deleted so I'll do the abridged and emotionless version here.
1. I started collecting Mega over 2 decades ago with the 2001 dragons line. I never collected a line as completely as Destiny, COD, or Halo though. I owned at least one of roughly 90 percent of all of the destiny sets, 75% of all of the Halo sets released between 2009 and the day the house burned, and 50% of the COD sets. The next large collection was roughly 25% each of the WOW and Pyrates/Pirates of the Caribbean sets.
2. Last year, my house burned down a few days after I posted the maritime camo mongoose, the mega collection, the rest of my stuff, and everything but the shirt on my back burned with it.
3. My entire family and remaining cat (I had to have my other one (Perry Oct 2006-Dec-2022) put down due to kidney failure a week to the day before the fire) survived and everyone except me was completely unharmed, so that was a miracle.
4. Fast forward till recently and everything is fine again and I bought the hornet set and made a post about it a few days later, officially beginning the Mega collection rebuild. I'm definitely not buying back everything I had, but I do plan to get a decent halo collection again. If they ever do new articulation versions of the Dragons Universe and Pyrates sets I'll definitely buy those though.
