A pair of Reach style Jet-packs. Model designed by Bthal Mantakree and produced and sold by Shapesways. This purchase/ showing is not endorsed.
What I got from my small order was two Jetpacks, 4 in use nozles and 2 closed nozles. The parts themselves seem to have disparity between cuts. With one coming out much more crisp then the other. The plastic feels brital and frail, similar to older style mega bloks product texture and weight, small edges and thin areas are at risk of breakage. On detail, even with the disparity of quality. Both main chassis came out crisp with alot of fine, tiny detail. From gratting, to the UNSC lettering. The nozzles basic, clean and crisp. The design is something to be admired. Adding proper color to the mix really brings out the detail. Lasty, there dosen't seem to be any peg hole issues. Unlike the micky backpack introduced in the challange series that needed it's peg sanded, the jetpack bars are compatable and fit easyliy with mega construx and mega bloks figures. Likewise mega construx bars fit into the jetpack nozzle slots with ease. I would recommend sanding the bars of the nozzles before placing inside the main chassis of the Jet-packs.
In all I really like the cut and detail. In the hands of a decent painter, these could be used for extremely realistic accessories. On the other hand though, wile they can make for great display the quality of plastics makes them not so great for play. A general change in color available to more generic colors and a sturdier plastic resin would go along way into making these more durable and usable. If your a collector who dose custom paints. I'd recommend giving these a go if your interested. If not, I'd stick to the safer less detailed official official MCX design.
