Of all the new vehicles we’ve seen from the upcoming Halo Wars 2, I thought the Blisterback was by far the most interesting in terms of design and function. Seeing some of the gameplay videos from the recent Multiplayer Beta inspired me to try a custom build that captured both the look and some of the functionality that was shown.
I first tried Locust legs, but they were too bulky, so I ended up using pairs of ball and socket joints to make the Blisterback’s 6 legs. This made it easy for the legs straighten out for “hover mode.” The build’s biggest challenge was coming up with a missile hatch design that properly opened and closed, left room for the “missiles”, and still approximated the “insect shell” shape.
Finished it off with some yellow decals and like how it turned out overall.
