I had an itch to do another fantasy custom, so here's an old vampire guy. Overall I'm pretty happy with the way this one turned out, especially the face which I think is the best one I've done yet.
To begin, the legs and torso were lengthened a bit as this character is supposed to be tall. After that I took my dremel and ground a bit from the cheeks to make his face more gaunt. Sculpting on the head was done in layers with the ears going on first, then the hair, while the body was done mostly in one go. The weird mutated arms weren't initially planned, but I'm glad I made them. The right one is for thrashing and the left has detachable claw things for a ranged attack.
Next came the paint. While I was already set on certain details like the hair, skin, and eyes, the clothes and armor were decided later. After a bit of experimenting I eventually settled on a tarnished gold with red designs and dark purple.
As the eighth picture shows, this figure is actually a companion piece for a previous custom. The last picture is just there as a before and after comparison showing all the pieces I started with.
In conclusion it's really cool taking a character that previously only existed in drawings and making them more tangible in the form of a toy. I look forward to bringing others to life as well.
