Z19 sat in a room with Agent D78 the regional commander of the SSR in Arizona. She seemed tense. He couldn’t blame her, the heads of the USRC and the CDT in New Paso escaped from her custody. Z19 was glad he was only supposed to capture. He knew how tenacious Diesel was, and how clever Roebuck was. He would not want to be in charge of watching them.
The doors of the meeting room opened, and Director R93, the head of the Socialist Soviet Remnants, entered the room. The two Agents jumped up and snapped a salute. R93 waved them down, and walked to the end of the room. D78 began to speak, but R93 silenced her, “I am disappointed. You had two prominent officers in the Texan front, and you let them slip through your fingers.” D78 bowed her head in shame, “I’m sorry sir, I should have been more diligent.”
“If I had given the assignment to Y45, or even Z19, this wouldn’t have happened.” Z19 stifled a groan. Y45 was R93’s top agent, and the head of operations in New York. The Director never let a chance to brag about Y45 go by.
“You will be relieved to know however, that this does not affect the master plan. We are still on schedule. The plan will be ready by the end of the next year,” R93 turned to both of them, “So I trust that you both will be ready by then?”
“Yes Director,” both Agents replied.
R93 waved them both out, “Dismissed.”
The two Agents left the room, one feeling embarrassed, and the other feeling disgruntled and slightly afraid of the year to come...
Thank you all for your support and help on this fantastic journey! Just one year ago, I didn’t even have this project on my radar, and now I’ve got two more seasons in the works!
I want to especially thank:
