"Midday, 04 03, 1132 - Upon arriving at a small village a few miles south of Koczt after a lengthy journey I noticed a certain sense of unease and apprehension in the air. I hadn't been here a day but it was very apparent in the people's eyes and words that something was not right. When asked, a local trader explained that there had been disappearances as of late and no one was sure what would happen next. At first it was suspected that a kind of swamp dwelling serpentine creature colloquially known as a 'dreg' wandering a bit too close to town may have been the cause, and while attacks of that nature aren't unheard of, the sheer number of people missing and the circumstances surrounding them was clearly unnatural. I bought extra bullets and decided to investigate. I set out the next day and spent almost all of it searching for some sort of clue. The sun had almost set when I finally got lucky and came across a strange brick entrance to some sort of cave, bones strewn about outside. That's when I noticed the cave was curiously lit as if by some small fire. One step inside and my senses were immediately assaulted by the stench of rot and smoke mixed with the smell of cooking meat. I stifled the urge to gag as I noticed a large figure, hunched over, the sound of wet tearing and scraping reverberating off the walls. As suspected a small fire sat off to the side with a spit over it roasting some meat I dare not ask the origin of. I readied my rifle and took a small step but clumsily planted my foot into a pile of discarded bones, the resulting crunch alerting the beast and allowing me my first proper look at it. It was much like the 'dreg' the trader described: scaly green skin, two long appendages sprouting from its face, and a bony armor like growth on its thrice spiked head. But this was no animal and certainly not a serpent. It was changed by some means, standing on two legs like a man with long arms and wicked claws and clearly intelligent enough given its dwelling and the makeshift armor it was wearing. My hesitation was enough for it to charge me and wrestle the gun from my grip, tossing me like a child's toy across the other side of its den. However a single slash across the beast's face was enough for it to let out a terrible howl and dash out of the hole I had entered from. With my ears still ringing I collected my thoughts and my rifle, determined not to let the foul thing escape. The remains will have to be cleansed of course but that can wait, for now the hunt continues." So there it is, a weird fantasy thing I've been working on for the last week or so. I was originally just going to post the human figure but he needed a bad guy to fight, then I ended up making a whole scenario and a story just kind of developed from it. The journal entry part was actually an afterthought I wrote based off of the pictures and if it sounds weird in any way it's because I've never really written a story before. I might continue it if I'm in the mood to.
