Glitches and desync are two different monsters. Glitches are in the games memory and code. Desync stems from the servers, and since Infinite isn’t using Peer2Peer for matchmaking, they have to use dedicated servers.

Glitches are comparatively easy to fix, since all that's required to solve is some tweaks to the game engine. Desync is a much more deep and complicated issue that requires a lot more work to solve, since it's caused by a combination of the game itself, the server setup, and people's own individual internet connections. If desync could've been easily fixed, it wouldn't have been a problem on launch.
