The Masters of the Universe Zodac Scubattack has arrived on store shelves. Let’s take a quick peek behind the scenes into some of the design process that went into this set.
Each set in the Skeletor Heads assortment is made up of three elements: The Skeletor Head play packaging, the figure and a small building element.
When we started working on the first series, the design team thought that the Power Gear accessories from the vintage line would make fun building elements for these sets. The Cliff Climber was released in series 1. Scubattack was chosen to be the next Power Gear set released to introduce another environment into the collection.
To create the small underwater diorama, the team combed through old cartoon episodes and mini-comics. The color pallet was chosen to call back to the ‘80s. Sea life accessories were included (Because more accessories is always good) and the underwater ruins create a space for the set’s Easter egg – a disk of knowledge. An articulated display arm is also included to pose Zodac in his underwater quest to retrieve the lost disk.
The choice of Easter egg was driven by the character that was selected for the set. Zodac makes his second appearance in the MEGA line, this time inspired by his cartoon colors.
Zodac Scubattack is available now and retails for approximately 9.99$
