Weeks after the Scrappers were hit, the mystery marauders have made themselves known once more, this time shaking up the Wasteland in a very unexpected way.
Using radio technology stolen from the Scrappers during their last raid, the raiders have made an open-channel broadcast, featuring an electronically-distorted voice repeating a list of names on loop. A list of names, the broadcast claims, that belong to SSR agents embedded in other factions.
USRC and CDT operations have been plunged into chaos as a result, with several of the accused being dramatically arrested, including Rogue-Elite, who is now revealed to have been responsible for orchestrating the kidnapping of Roebuck several months ago. Other factions have also been impacted to lesser degrees, and SSR activities have dropped to an all-time low as those agents who escaped arrest retreat and regroup.
Writer’s note: As most of you are aware, I’ve been following Nigel’s notes while writing Wasteland content, until now. In Nigel’s original draft, it was (as some of you have already guessed), the SSR who were going to responsible for these attacks.
However, while in the midst of telling this story, real life events transpired that made me feel it was no longer appropriate or in good taste to reveal that Russians were responsible for these events in the Wasteland world. Frankly, I don’t feel comfortable using this faction in any capacity for the foreseeable future.
That doesn’t mean any other Wasteland users can’t use or mention the SSR. Just know that I won’t be, and that the ending of this story will be altered to eventually reveal a different villain.
