Welcome to a small series I'm making on the Lore of my Universe. Shout out to @omegabob who inspired this with his microspace guide.
Let's get started, shall we?
The Homo Sapien species, or Humans as they are commonly known throughout the Universe, originate from the planet of Dror IV (Yes, I know, I know, I already stated this in a lore post from ages ago,but it's kinda outdated now). A few million years ago, the human species exited their galaxy (named Nargo 1) for the first time, using a revolutionary new system, called the Particle Accelerator Engine (or PEA), which allowed them to still travel faster than light, but much faster than before. Ideal for covering larger distances. They encountered the Banished, a blood thirsty species out to invade all of known space. A 7 000 year war began, with furious space combat (In my version of Humanity, Humanity are pretty much Gods, capable of creating artificial life, much like the Forerunners, they resemble ancient humanity from Halo). In the 6 052nd year of the war, the Human light cruiser Afro II engaged combat against the Banished Super-cruiser Retaliation. The Afro II fought the good fight, but as you can imagine, it didn't really have much to go up against a Super-cruiser. In the end, the crew evacuated, whilst Banished space-fighters attempted to shoot the escape pods down. Fortunately, a few pods made it through, and landed in what is now central Africa. The Survivors, met the native species of the area, the "Handymen" they were smaller, and much more primitive than the Humans, who saw them as vastly inferior. This was approximately 300 000 years ago, or 298 000 BC. Unfortunately for the Survivors, they had been sent on an exploration mission in uncharted space, which meant their distress signals were of no use, because no one knew where they were. They had codenamed this new system Sol, because of its star, which ressembled the one from their home system. And this planet was Sol III. Although pure Homo Sapiens could live millenia, once their technology stopped working, they had to downgrade, make utensils similar to those used by the natives, who were gradually dying out for some reason. Eventually, their descendants would travel north, dying of illness, starvation, and wild animal attacks. They met the Neanderthals, who had much lighter skin, as they lived further north than the "Handymen". They still ressembled the humans more than the latter however, and little by little crossbreeding happened, and all traces of the past were eroded, the Neanderthals lived much shorter lives than the Humans, and as they mated with them, the newer human descendants were living shorter lives as well, they also had paler skin, and ressembled the Neanderthal more than the first humans, who some, still living in Africa, would also breed with newer species of Homo.
This is the beginning of our timeline. And it continues on much unchanged, until the Cold War, where I decided to make a small change: In the second world war, the western Allies never manage to push across the Rhine, and therefore, the Russians invade the whole of Germany, turning it into a fully Communist puppet state. This means that the Cold war still happens, but Communism in Germany never ends, and it doesn't in many other countries, meaning the Cold war never ends. The third world war happens in 2018, with Russia using the US's nuclear strike on North Korea to invade the west of Europe. And so the Nuclear Apocalypse happens, with every country having nuclear weapons because restrictions were never put in place in the UN. And so the main D of D storyline takes place, a few years later in 2020.
