The ‘Tropod (short for Gastropoda or snail) Mobile Armored Artillery.
This durable, heavily armed combat and support vehicle was designed primarily to destroy Covenant drop ships by firing charged energy beams straight through them. A poor shot could do minimal damage, while a well placed shot could bring a Spirit down. With such a powerful weapon mounted on it, the ‘Tropod, named after the snail (it’s relatively slow, but heavily armored) can also easily dispatch Wraiths and damage Scarabs. It only needs two people to operate it, a gunner and a driver. Because the gun can lock down while facing forward, a fire button was installed in reach of the the driver so that if the gunner was killed or absent, the driver could the vehicle, and thus the gun, at an enemy and shoot. It is usually sent in in the second line, behind scorpions and other less valuable vehicles.
