The Ghosts Tactical Helicopter set is a great platform for custom helos. This time I put together a CH-54 Sky Crane. Originally built by Sikorsky for the Army, it was eventually replaced by the Chinook, but is still operated commercially for firefighting and high-altitude construction.
The two biggest challenges were creating a 6-blade rotor and finding a rear-facing bubble for the payload master. I solved the rotor puzzle, but thought I would have to use a flat rear window until, oddly enough, I came across the new red Minions jet…the clear canopy worked great!
While I was at it, I also built the wheeled Army payload container. Was able to add lots of little details including the center hoist, removable roof, control sticks, twin engines and the exposed drive train for the rear rotor. Had a blast building it…hope you fans of classic military vehicles like it too!
