they used the slipspace drive to blow up the internal star and using its gravity as it was exploding flung themselves out of the planet through a newly exploded hole

It did a single round of donuts around a star to shoot themselves out the planet, and I only know this because I watched all the cutscenes on Youtube a while ago.
