For those of you who haven't bought the Turret Takedown set yet, I recommend you do. It's 10 bucks, probably a Dollar General exclusive, and is a fairly cheap way of getting an orange Grunt and an exclusive-to-this-set-only Hazop Spartan. Plus, you get a turret and a Covenant (sorry, Banished) barricade and some extra bits.
I'm not a particularly big fan of the turret, although it is a pretty neat build. It just doesn't look finished to me, which is to be expected for a 10 dollar set that comes with so much stuff.
I decided to redesign the set using only parts from the set and some spare pieces I had left over from an Infinite Warthog and a Building Box. Here's what I changed:
Turret: complete overhaul. I kept the dual launcher pieces because I happen to like the look of that part when it's integrated well into the set. They are still functional as well.
Barricade: Unfortunately, I had to lose the Banished Barricade to make the shroud on the turret, but I swapped in a deployable cover to replace it so that the Hazop still has something to hide behind.
Figures: Both figures and the included stands are the same, but I swapped the Grunt's Plasma Pistol for a metallic purple one for no other reason than that's the color I grabbed out of the assorted weapons and accessories bin. I also gave the Hazop Spartan a couple of grenades because a tactical shotgun won't be enough for him to take out the new, beefier, turret.
Price: based on the new parts count, the set would probably have to be sold for twelve or thirteen US dollars instead of the regular price of ten.
What do you guys think? Which version of the set do you prefer?
