@WhoThCares not only are Yanmes not insects or arachnids, but rather reptiles, like some reptiles, and because we don't know everything about them, they might be poisonous. That in of itself would guarantee the ODSTs starving to death or possibly dieing of poisoning. If they were in there for months, the likelihood of them being swarmed by Yanmes is all too probable. All in all, this scenario is highly unlikely

ODSTs are trained to survive and are trained that when dropped into a hot zone and are surrounded with no supply drop you make do with what you have on hand and that includes rations and eating Yanme'e like we in real life can eat grasshoppers and crikets
