Back when the Target exclusive blue Missile 'Hog came out, several builders, myself included, used it to create civilian law enforcement vehicles. Now clearly Goodwill Hunter was looking into the future when he built his, 'cuz his Troop Hog based build ended up being the way the MB design team also went. What I found interesting though, was that while the custom builders all made police 'Hogs modified so as to make sense from a civilian police vehicle standpoint, MB did nothing but re-color and sticker a stock military Troop 'Hog model. Well I guess that creates opportunities for guys like us! So what did I do this time around? First I removed the military vehicle tow hooks up front and then I created big bumpers front and rear which the 'Hog would use to push malfunctioning or crashed civilian vehicles off the roadway. Oh I added tail lights and another red & blue flashing light bar to the rear of the troop cage too. I added proper seating in the rear for 4 troopers based upon the mod I had come up with and posted on the SBF for my Troop 'Hogs several years ago. Then came detailing the front portion of the Troop roll cage with the intake and searchlight assembly seen on the Reach Troop 'Hog. Finally I figured out a way to mount a couple of riot shields to the vehicle. While none of the mods I performed were individually a big deal, cumulatively they make for a Warthog variant which is both truer to existing types and yet looks much better suited to its civilian role. The only thing I think is missing is some more NMPD logos. While I like the durability of screen printed art, it doesn't work for spots where a graphic would span several brick intersections. Which means there simply isn't enough police logos and insignia on this build. A small sheet of additional NMPD themed decals would have been a nice inclusion.
So to wrap things up, I'll state the usual. Please feel free to constructively critique, compliment, or clone my mods as you see fit. In fact if you come up with some cool mods of your own for this vehicle, please share them.
