CQB helmets have always been my favorite. When the releases of Halo 4 and 5 have been launched without it, I was crushed. In addition to that, the Mega Bloks company have stopped making these amazing helmets and moved on to others. When the new articulated figures started coming out, I desperately wanted my CQB to come back. So I had little choice but to do some customizing.
I first started out by sanding down the cheek guards from the helmet. The new armor was bulky, and proved the helmet impossible to move around. After this, I started painting the cheek guards, and then moved to the visor. I had accidentally scraped bits of the gold visor off, and was looking forward to re-painting it.
This proved to be a huge mistake.
First off, I used enamel paints instead of acrylic, which made the helmet look sloppy, and when dried, the paint just chipped right off. After a month's worth of frustration, I looked on the web to see any solutions for painting custom figs. I eventually got the answer that acrylics, being oil based, actually eats away some certain plastics. This, unfortunately, included Halo mega bloks. Thankfully, they gave me the answer by saying that you must use acrylics instead. Eventually, after a few attempts, a coat of primer, and a change of color (from a gold colored visor to black, cause black looks awesome), I eventually got my spartan to where it is now, to show you all.
Personally, I think it looks fantastic. Not only my dream has come true about CQB helmets going into the articulated series of mega bloks, I also appears to have moved on into to the game.
I hope you guys like it!
