I've decided that the long awaited Generation 2 405th Outlander Battalion design guide should coincide with the grand return of the 405th. This contest ends on April 30th and winners will be posted on May 5th.
Here's the rules:
1. Title your post with #405thcontest. If you don't tag your post, I won't be able to find it when I judge the entries
2. Follow either the Gen 1 or Gen 2 design guide. The Gen 2 design guide can be found on this post, and I will post the Gen 1 guide later today
3. I am more than happy to tweak the design guide to allow you to enter the contest, but ask me in the comments on this post first
4. All entries must be posted by April 30th. I don't want to push back the deadline unless someone has a really good excuse. The winner(s) will be announced on May 5th
5. 405th figures like having buddies, so you can have as many entries as you like. I will pick your best figure to judge in the contest.
Here are the Gen 2 design guidelines
1. The 405th is made of Elites, ODSTs, grunts, and Marines. No Spartans are in the 405th (Junior is no longer canon). If one gets added, I'll be the one that adds him/her.
2. 405th figures use earth tones for the armor/clothing. Shades of primary colors are acceptable accents (see the red on this figure)
3. The only things that every 405th ODST and Marine HAVE to have are a red scarf, night vision goggles and a trench coat.
you don't have any scarf pieces or don't want to make one, prominent use of the color red as a stripe on the helmet or as a stripe on the chest plate also works.
5. Trench coats can be made from cloth if you want to follow the Gen 2 design or a Destiny Warlock coat piece if you want to follow the Gen 1 design
6. Kitbashing and painting are not strictly required, but highly recommended if you don't want to try to pop&swap a figure together
7. Gen 2 design figures do not have any weathering or grit. This is because I want them to fit in with my unpainted figures.
8. To make up for the lack of weathering, Gen 2 design figures have tons of little details painted on the armor
9. Weapons do not have to be kitbashes! You can just paint a regular weapon.
10. Gen 2 vehicles do not have a design guide yet, so stick to the Gen 1 guide for now
11. If you don't have and figure scale NVG pieces, feel free to use an similar helmet attachment (like an ODST sniper helmet or the goggles off of a Spartan Operator)
That's it. That's the Gen 2 design guide. Let me know in the comments below if you need any clarification and if you're going to enter the 405th contest.
