Hey guys! Justin here and today we are reviewing the... *looks at the box* Kallipolis Hunter. Anyway, she is from the Series 1 Destiny figure pack line (Whatever the name is, their set names are literally just their class). This is my first Destiny set, but the line has always interested me so I decided to pick up a set the first chance I got to see how the line is! I picked the Hunter since she seems like a nice female figure to add to my collection.
On first glance, the figure has a nice Red, white and light gray color scheme, with black gloves which do fit in, even though they are the only black accents in the set. However, she has a dark gray leg band with nothing to actually plug into it, which makes it kind of useless and out of place. Her cape is held into place by her helmet and the ghost. The ghost itself is a plain white, which fits the color scheme, but it would have been nice if it had it's own color scheme like the other figure's ghosts in the line.
When I first saw images of the figure, I felt the legs were too exaggerated, the shoulder pads were too bulky for a female figure and the helmet was too male looking. Looking at the figure in person, the shoulder pads are actually very small and compact, which fit the figure very well, and the helmet does fit that of a female figure! Still, I feel the legs are exaggerated in their size and I think just having thin legs overall without it becoming thinner as you go to the feet would have been better. I also feel her feet are too small, and the fact that the peg holes don't even fit into said feet is disappointing.
Moving onto the amount of detail she has, her paint work is great! She lacks a wash of any kind, but it's not needed! She looks great in her fresh, refined look, which the red being very shiny and the white being very clear! Her arms and upper legs fit her female torso and waist piece very well! The torso is also very human proportioned and realistic, making it clear the figure is a girl while still not having exaggerated detail or being hidden by her own armor, like the Halo and COD female torsos. Additionally, her waist piece looks very female and proportioned, seamlessly blending with the end of the torso and the beginning of the legs!
Her shoulder pads, chest armor, cape, and boots all have a "///" symbol, which I guess is a faction, probably the Kallipolis part of her name (I don't play the game, and I'm too lazy to find a wiki). She has a great amount of asymmetry, which gives her a great, unique look as opposed to figures that have asymmetry that doesn't fully blend in well, or are completely symmetric.
Along with the plain white ghost, she reuses a gun from one of the speeder sets. The gun itself has the "///" symbol on both sides, but is in crimson instead of shiny red. It still looks good on the figure, but it would have been nice to see a more detailed gun like the other figures in the line have.
In terms of size, she's around the same size as a COD male figure, which is somewhat proportionally accurate, but I'm not arguing. The lengths of her arms, legs, and body are realistic to that of a real female human, and there are no parts that are overly exaggerated or out of size besides the legs. Posing her is great as she has a lot of articulation.
Overall, whereas I felt like I would dislike the figure for a few key areas and just scrap her for parts, I actually loved the figure for her great design, proportions, and many other aspects! I literally could not bring myself to scrap any part of her for another figure, and I even went back and slightly modified the figure to my liking, which is really saying a lot. Overall, while there are a few minor things with the figure, she is a great set and a must have for any Destiny fans or Mega Bloks fans who need an extra female figure in their collection! This is Justin, signing off!
