What if we said that the initial idea for the #97015 Covenant Seraph set included a base/landing bay? The first concept prototype did just that as you can see on the first picture.
The Seraph itself changed quite a lot between the prototype and the final product. First, the concept was based on the Halo 2 version of the space fighter. The beige/tan on the top is the clue. The final toy was styled on the Halo Reach version. Second, the shape was created using angular bricks as opposed to the sloped bricks in the final.
The base would have had a landing bay with support struts, access ramps for figures, power cores and weapons crates along with several Covies to create the scene.
