I'm going to be perfectly honest here. I bought this set because I have my eye on a Frostraven and the Frostraven can carry this set like a Pelican carries any other Warthog. When I first saw the images for this set however long ago it came out, I didn't like it and I didn't want it. The Goliath looked bad, Forge looked ugly and inaccurate, and the Warthog seemed like a jumbled mess.
Well, I finally bought the set so that when I get it, my Frostraven can be complete. I knew from watching a review from @Brickman117 that it had an interesting build that scraps the older style of build that it getting pretty long in the tooth at this point. I was excited for that, but not much else.
Bottom line: It looked too toyish, and that's coming from an adult who not only buys toys for his display shelves about once a release season, but has spent hours painting toys.
Boy, was I wrong. I love this set. Forge is still not very accurate, but he isn't ugly. Both of his hands almost broke when I tried to pose him with his shotgun because they are mismolded, but that was the only defect in the set. The Goliath actually looks really good, and has a home on my giant tabletop battlescape (Pics 3 and 4). But the real star of the show is the Forgehog. It looks forgettable in game, and the box art makes it look rather bland and memorable in all the wrong ways.
In the real world, sitting on the desk beside my keyboard as I type this. It looks great! It looks like the Mad Max version of a Warthog, and it's actually pretty fun to just open and close the Delorean style doors while I wait for a game to load. Another thing that shocked me a bit was the fact that it uses the Warthog Run suspension style where the wheels just out way to far to be accurate. What shocked me was that it actually works on this Warthog. The 'Hog is wide enough for the wider suspension to look realistic.
There's really only one part of the build that I don't care for. The back has a spot with three jerrycans racked up and an extra jerrycan beside it. On top of the rack section is a 2x3 studded gray plate. I really think it should have been smooth and not studded, but that's just a nitpick.
I'm glad I bought this set, but I don't plan on buying another one and repainting it to 405th colors, even though this thing would totally work as a 405th vehicle.
