So I live in front of my neighborhood transformer, which powers 5 or so houses in the area. One day during a storm, I was doing school work when suddenly I heard what I thought was thunder and then all the power went out. I got up from my chair since my computer was off and to my shock, I could see the transformer in blazes from my window. You see, I have a large window to my right, and I was facing my computer so I couldn't see what had happened. I was also the only family member downstairs (And yes, those photos of the flaming transformer are real and from my phone). So what most of my neighborhood thinks happened was there was a large power surge during the storm that caused the transformer to explode from the side facing away from my house. I was actually lucky that it exploded from the side facing away from my house, since who knows what the damage could've been. It took three tries by the fire department to put out the fire, and it took until 2:30 in the morning for the transformer to get replaced. Now my schedule is all bent out of shape. But this does make for a great story!
