Hey guys! Here is my top 5 Mega Construx/Bloks sets! I am only picking from sets I have because no matter how much I want and love the scarab, I don't feel like I can fairly judge something I don't own. This list is (surprisingly) my opinion, so don't twist your jimmys if you see something you disagree with.
5. At number Five is the Fallen Walker. This set has some really good things to offer and looks amazing. The figure selection is great, and the Gjallarhorn piece is a masterwork (see what I did there?) The Fallen Captain, Hunter, and shank are all great and welcome additions to my collection as well. The walker itself is pretty good too. It's functions are numerous, and very fun. This set is amazing for display, but the walker can be quite flimsy and fragile at times. Also, if you want this thing, there are lots of price tags above $60. DO NOT GO ABOVE $60! It is nice, but not worth that expense. Aside from that, its a brilliant set! 8/10
4. At number Four is the almighty Phantom Dropship. This set was my first large Mega set, and the first one I desperately wanted. I chased this thing nonstop for almost a year, checking Ebay almost daily. Finally, I struck golden, getting it FACTORY SEALED for only $90. This set is beautiful, in both build and look. As far as functions go, there isn't much, but there is lots of troop space, and smooth door access. The figures are amazing too. The Elite pilot and grunts (both grunts are lost to the void at this time) are good, but the Arbiter makes this set. Chrome silver and gold, energy sword in hand, Ripa Moramee brings this set to legendary status. Overall phenomenal set, 9/10!
3. At number Three is the elusive Hierarchs Shadow Convoy. I may have chased the Phantom for a year, but this one I searched for as long as I have been buying these sets. As a matter of fact, I only got it at the beginning of last year after an intense Ebay auction. I won't reveal the final price, as we're talking about the sets, not the price, and I don't want to seem like a jerk by bragging about having them. Back to the set, the figures absolutely make this set. Truth, Johnson and Arby are so well done, and the marines and (ugh) jackal snipers are great additions too. I have said my piece on Truth, (see my favorite figures list) but having a prophet with his honor guard in one set is an amazing choice. The Shadow, while cool and all, inevitably takes a backseat to the figures, but only because of the dazzling lineup of official characters. Amazing set, pain in the butt to find for under $300, 9/10
2. At number Two is the Cabal Harve- Hey stop the booing! Yeah I just put a Destiny set over two amazing Halo sets, get over it! *ahem* ANYway, this is the Cabal Harvester Dropship. Being the only signature series set I own, this is an absolute BEHEMOTH of a set. The build is beautiful, detailed, and yet easy to complete. You can really tell Mega put their all into this set, because it just brims with love, care, and devotion. The build is brilliant, but the figures are EVEN BETTER! The two Legionaries and Psions are great for display and army building, being the perfect amount to feel like you can load the ship with troops. And then there's Cayde 6 and oh man, this figure if pure FIRE. (Once again, for a more detailed review, see my favorite figures list) This set is one of Mega's finest, and is a main reason I hope the line returns *aggressive hinting* It also got me into Destiny as a whole. 9.5/10 I don't care if you like Destiny or not, BUY THIS BEAUTY!!
Finally at number One is the mythical Warthog run. If the previous sets were legendary, this set is Legendary All Skulls On Halo 2 type legendary. I don't think I've ever been more hyped for a set than this one, and when it was announced, I literally screamed with excitement. The set itself is everything a Mega set should be. Great recognizable build, Amazing figure selection, great weapons, and amazingly priced. Seriously, Mega, bravo for distributing this set so easily. It feels like you're really turning the distribution issue around. The Green Warthog, Arby, Chief, and Hunters make this set no more than a masterpiece, and an essential for any Halo or Mega Construx fan.
Thanks for reading this whole thing, and let me know your thoughts or personal favorite sets!
