if it's pretty big I would go for it but if you wouldn't want to build it again then don't

yea i think you shouldn't because its a lot of effort and a pelican is a awesome vessel so you shouldn't its not worth it i mean sure the base is cool but when your done with it you'll regret it

If you'd rather have a base than a pelican, sure. Just be ready for a lot of disassembling.
