As always, the fool fell for it. He knew the man couldn't resist the offer and would show up. The bright orange armor was the first thing to catch his eye.
"Well old friend, I see you still haven't learned how to dress properly." He smiled as he tracked the man.
His benefactor had been… generous with the powers they had charged him with. He was invisible to all things and he possessed the ability to materialize from nothing. His weapons were also something to behold, glittering in the sun like a pair of ancient gems.
The man, RedThree, continued walking. He carried a small rifle in his hands and a heavy grenade launcher on his back. The gun shifted from area to area.
IndigoFive stepped in front of Red. "What's the matter? Looking for someone?" He taunted. Red couldn't hear him. The power felt good. "I could end you right now and you'd never even know I'm here… very tempting." He decided against it. No sport in killing something that can't fight back. Instead, he opted to return to behind Red. With a click of his tongue, his invisibility faded. "I'm so glad you could join me!" He acted like someone inviting a guest to dinner. "I hope the trip was easy on you. Anything sore?"
Surprised, Red spun around to meet the voice he knew all too well. "Indy, long time no see. I was wondering if you might show up. What's with the new powers?"
Indigo's eye twitched slightly and his mouth morphed into a long frown.. "I don't appreciate the nickname Red. Can't you just greet me like a friend?"
Red laughed loudly. "Friend? Last time we met you tried to kill me, twice!" He raised his rifle, pointing it at Indigo's head. "I'll ask again. What's up with the fancy new powers?"
Indigo sighed, gaining a sarcastic tone. "You've heard the reports, haven't you? Put two and two together instead of demanding explanations constantly. It would do wonders for you." A small beeping in his helmet gave him a simple message. Indigo relaxed the tense stance he only now noticed he was in. "Well, Red, I'd love to continue our little chat, but I have a job to do and a mission to complete. With that, he phased out of sight.
Red squeezed the trigger. His reaction was a second too late, the bullets passing through empty air where Indigo has just stood. "Blast. Where did you go?"
Indigo sprinted around Red. He stopped at his back. Phasing back in, he raised his two SMGs. "I have some new toys as well!" He shouted as he lit Red up like a Christmas tree.
Red raised his arm, bullets pinging off his thick armor and being absorbed by the shielding surrounding him.
After Indigo stopped firing, Red took his chance and returned fire. Once again, Indigo phased away before the shots found their mark. He dropped his SMGs before vanishing.
Red kept his rifle aimed at the spot. He called out. "I know you're around here somewhere! Come out and fight!" He was annoyed by the tricks Indigo was playing. "Show yourself!"
Indigo allowed himself to be heard through his invisibility as he stood behind the angered man. "Well, if you insist."
Realizing what was about to happen, Red tried to turn around. But he was too late. An energy blade was run through him. Shock and pain shot across his body.
Indigo whistled. "Man, I thought you wouldn't fa for the old 'teleport behind you with a sword and stab you in the back' trick. Poor show."
Red felt himself blacking out. He tried to say something, but all he could say was barely a whisper.
Indigo pulled the blade out of Red's back. The man fell to the ground and remained still. "Well, guess it doesn't matter. I had a job to do, and I did it." He flicked a small switch on his hip, activating a signal to his benefactor. "Legin, I-Five here. Target is down. I'm returning to you."
He got no response. He turned back to Red. "Well, it's been fun. Ta-ta!"
Indigo vanished from sight. The air was silent, save for the gentle humming of the unseen assassin as he walked away.
