Mega makes some awesome figures. I'm sure we can all agree on that. Sometimes the figures need an extra touch though, one that the factories can't achieve. I've talked before about the Shoe Polish Weathering Technique. Shoe Polish and some time will give you a fantastic weathered look. However, I discovered another layer to the weathering process thanks to Gundam model kits: overspray.
At pretty much any Walmart, in the spraypaint section, you can find various paint sealers. I used Krylon Matte Sealer for the figures pictured.
Photos 1 - 3 show my sigfig with his un-weathered counterpart
Photos 4 & 5 show a weathered and oversprayed Marine next to a normal, out of package one
Photo 6 is my improved ODSTs, the right one with matte spray and the left one without. I used the flash so you can see the difference in the way light hits the figures.
Photo 7 is the pride of my collection, my custom Master Chief, with a matte overspray.
If you have any questions, I'm happy to help out. :D
